Pack on the LAYERS!

It is becoming a family tradition while visiting the NE Hicks' to hike down to the river. Dad sure enjoys taking the kids. This Thanksgiving day happened to be a nippy 29 degrees. what were we thinking?!?!?! i thought kentucky had its cold days, well; this was unbearable. so we layered up and headed out. how the women of the 1800's did it--i know not. the kids didn't mind at all; they didn't even care about the free flowen' snot. my gloves became the official tissue. yes, it went into the wash immediately. Brilee loved being the leader of the pack (go figure, she is just like her daddy) and Brayland was having so much fun carrying this humungo stick and banging everything he saw. as we made it closer to the river i could feel the temp dropping. i'm shivering just thinking about it. we got to see the train up close pass us, a hawk eating a mouse just 10 feet off the ground 30 feet away and we threw a few rocks in the river. we had to get back into the trees...the trees were keeping us warm.

Three hours later...i think it's time to go home. Brayland did very well until the last 15 minutes.

When Amanda, Dave, and I checked out the river that one Christmas or Thanksgiving (I can't remember which), it wasn't THAT cold!
