So while in NE Amanda introduced me to this horse-barn-smelling alternative to rice. She was cooking a red variety and i was very hesitant to taste it. she said, "Amy, it tastes just like it smells." so i leaned over to take a whiff and pulled back in horror. i don't want to taste horse poo! well, thankfully she was so totally wrong. it was tasteless and had a bit of a crunch to it.
so i made it today; the white version. i had the camera in my hand as i went to stir it and that is why there is a picture. i don't' take pictures of my food all that often. so i also wanted to tell you about how nutritional great this stuff is. so it is pronounced Keen-Wa, cooks in 10-15 min, wheat and gluten free for those of you who can't have that. Quinoa contains more high quality protein than any other grain. It stands alone as a complete protein grain. And it is easy to digest. Anyway thought i'd share.
