Pet Status

Pets have come and gone. Our current status is eight, not counting our chickens and Brayland’s frogs. Let’s get to the introductions!

First is Kitty. He has been with us the longest and has accumulated many nicknames along the way: Fat Cat, Mountain Lion, Orange Cat, Kitty, Bully… anything but Hobbs.  That name just isn’t rolling off the tongue. Picture: yes. He fell asleep with his nose in/on the drawer. LOL For more about Kitty's beginnings see this earlier post

Next we have Azreal.  She came with the house. After greeting us on the driveway, May 2020, I asked our realtor if he could ask the owners if we could keep her. Brian and Mike wrinkled their noses at me. Then the day before closing the owners asked if we wanted to keep the cat.  YES! Yes, I do. She's so lovable.  After Christmas 2021, she came home with a broken leg.  Asking the vet all my options, I did ask about euthanization.  She said I wouldn't need to worry about that because she would do the surgery anyway and just keep her for her daughter.  Brian and I said no way, we want her. So we paid. Once an outside cat that wouldn’t dare come in, and now a inside cat that occasionally goes out.

Our second boxer, Titan (1/4/2018), came to us through Matt the mechanic (just a temporary helper on a few jobs). He learned that boxer’s were a family favorite and let us know his friends needed a new home for theirs. Titan is calm and loving and everything now and then loves to box and play fetch. You can win his love through treats and patience. So many people are trying to win his love and help him be less afraid that he's gain a few pounds since April.

This summer we acquired Moo Moo (4/16/2022) and Rivers (4/4/2022). Our neighbors seem to always be having litters of kittens and Caelan is always asking; it's so hard to say no. After a mouse ate some costly wiring in the Clean Finish van, I persuaded Brian to get some kittens to eat the mice in the shop. They didn’t like being alone and separated from us so we move them to the garage. They’ve still kept their end of the deal and catch insects, leaves, and rodents, but they are slowly making their way into our laps inside.

We bought two horses in June, too! Some gentle giants came our way. It’s been wonderful to share them with family and friends. June is the brown one and Outlaw is the painted one. June is sweet and calm, while Outlaw tests the limits with every rider. Clayson Walker knows how to show him whos boss. We will be building a fence soon to bring them to our place. It will be wonderful to see them more often.

The last pet to join our family is Jack. Amy has toyed back and forth for years with the idea of getting a tiny, purse dog. After seeing some cavapoo puppies, Brian found a great deal on unregistered cheaper puppies. We drove a bit south to pick up Jack. He is causing a bit of headache and destruction as you grows, but there's hope as Amy continues to train him. He did fit into my purse once, but today he is almost 17 pounds. Today he is five months old (born May 17, 2022) and not so little anymore.

This was the summer of animals! New horses, puppies, and kittens.  So much cuteness! It's a bit overwhelming at times. But each one has its way of bring joy to our family.
