Is it over?

Potty Training. what works for one child isn't going to work for the other. and I've about had it with all the techniques that aren't working for Brayland and I. a big part of it is that my dad is coming out way too often. meaning i'm yelling and getting mad at the accidents. and i'm a complete nag. "time to sit on the potty" every half hour like suggested. that lasted two or three days. Brayland is just like his dad in that he hates being told when he has to do something. brayland knew this was a complete power struggle between us and he was determined to win.

so Monday i said a prayer and asked what brayland will be motivated with. while Brian was home for his lunch i scurried over to wal-mart. and kept my eyes open for something to motivate. i found this gigantic jar of colorful gumballs. perfect. while checking out the cashier said, "looks like someone has a gumball machine." i said, "no, I'm trying to motivate my son to use the potty." she then shared with me what her daughter did for her little girl. she created a store. i at first pictured baby jars with their lids screwed into a piece of wood. like dad has in the garage to organize the nails and screws. well, don't have baby food jars yet and i wanted to do this asap. the rest of Monday i thought and thought of how i could design this. and this so morning while waiting for Amdon to wake i found this perfect piece of cardboard in the garage. and look what i created!!!

Brayland's Potty Store
He loves it! I'm rewarding him every time he sits no matter if anything comes out or not. in ten minutes he has sat for at least five seconds six or seven times. enough to check out what is in each of the bags. i can't believe it; this may really work!! and if he goes #2 he gets a Diego brownie with a Reese's cup in the middle. oh so yummy.

Despite "my dad is coming out" you're the best mom!
Maybe if I would have had you as my mom I would have turned out better . . . so that my daughter wouldn't have her dad's traits
